Abstract

We have presented a experimental study by means of rabbit epigastric island flap. After construction of the epigastric island flap the pedicle artery is isolated and severed. The island flap is revascularized by end-to-end microvasular reanastomosis of the severed artery (the devascularized time is about one hour).
At 2 hours and hten 8 hours after revascularization of the flap, gas tension of venous blood of the island flap are calculated.
The results are as following:
1) The mean values of Po©üand Pco©üof the inferior epigastric vein are 45.2mmHg and 48.6mmHg.
2) The mean values of Po©üand Pco©üof the inferior epigastric vein 2 hours after revascularization are 20.4mmHg and 82.1mmHg.
3) The mean values of Po©üand Pco©üof the inferior epigastric vein 8 hours after revascularization are 21.4mmHg and 88.6mmHg.
Above results suggest that the flaps are not recovered from severe hypoxia in spite of 8 hours revascularization.
